Continuing on with my previous post...

It's considered to be 'politically correct'...
Merry Christmas!
Saying 'Happy Holidays!' instead of 'Merry Christmas!' is considered politically correct. But some people question the use of this greeting thinking why should we go that far and care about what is politically correct.

Is saying 'Christmas Party' for school and company-related events inappropriate
At the end of the year, schools and colleagues have parties, right? What do you call those parties? Before, everyone was saying 'Christmas Party,' but now, people use the term, 'holiday party.' 'Christmas cards' have become 'Holiday cards' and 'Christmas tree' has even become 'Holiday tree' for some. Is this just me or isn't that going a little overboard?

By the way, at my daughter's school, they referred to the party around Halloween time as 'Fall Festival' instead of 'Halloween Party.' Halloween is actually a Christian holiday. Now, people only think of Halloween as a day where kids dress up and get candy (or in Japan, it's a day where it's okay for adults to wear costumes).

What about the English-speaking countries other than the US? In Europe, people have no problem saying, "Merry Christmas!"

ちなみに by the way
