My kids love science experiments using candy.

Kids aren't eating the candy, but just the idea of using candy to do something makes them really happy.

So this time, we used M&Ms.

President Trump announced on the 17th that to help Americans economically during this time of crisis, the government will issue checks possibly in the amount of $1,000.

This is for all adults regardless of assets and income level. This money is intended to be spent on basic living expenses and is often referred to as 'universal basic income.'

To be able to receive money is something that we should feel grateful for.
But in reality, receiving $1,000 isn't even enought to pay half of a month's rent in the bay area.
If people do get laid off, some of these people won't be able to continue living in the bay area because of the high cost of living.

In the Bay Area, we have a shelter-in-place order in effect right now, but even on a national level, we've been told to not have gatherings of more than 10 people and to not go out to restaurants, bars, and vacations unless necessary.

A state of emergency has been declared in the US. The number of those infected by the virus greatly varies by state and city, and the rules that have been created to help prevent the spread also varies.

And in San Francisco, a shelter-in-place has been announced. It's planned to be from 12am 3/17 to 4/7.

While during this shelter-in-place, places that provide necessary services (such as supermarkets, pharmacies, and hospitals) will be open, so we are allowed to go out when needed.

After this shelter-in-place was announced, people rushed over to some supermarkets, so it was probably chaotic at those places. But there are supermarkets that aren't so bad. And there are people who do buy tons of things, but it's not like people are panicking. It's more like people are buying a little more than usual just in case.

This is a tweet from San Francisco's mayor.

Screen Shot 2020-03-14 at 3.15.04 PM

For the next month (due to school closure), I want to spend a productive, but relaxing time with my kids.

And playing at the park is one thing that's really important!

But today, it's raining, so no playing at the park and no playing outside for a long period of time. Disappointing. Didn't realize how much spending time outside is important for kids and adults both physically and mentally.

When you're not able to do something that you think is normal, you realize how much we need to appreciate everything in life.

I want to spend every single day, just appreciating everything in life.

So, this time, I'm introducing some phrases that can be useful when you're at the park.

It's raining, but I think I'll have fun in the rain outside of our house with the kids :)
Time to get wet!
