These are our pumpkins! We got all of these at Halloween events.
Halloween is over, but it's still fall, so we still have them.

It's okay to leave them as decoration until Thanksgiving.

These pumpkins reminded me of a time when my friend did an experiment.
Can you make good soup out of these kinds of pumpkins?

The answer is...

No. It's really not tasty.

Recently, you can find Japanese pumpkins in the grocery stores. These pumpkins are called Kabocha. There are pumpkins called sugar pumpkins that are meant for cooking, too.

What's the most popular dessert using pumpkin? Of course, pumpkin pie!
Might make some this year. Pies are in general really sweet, but I think even Japanese people might like pumpkin pie. Some people here top there pumpkin pie with ice cream and/or whipping cream.

I finished uploading Rina and Kento's Halloween video (last episode).
This time, it's a video of them trick or treating. But I took the video at night, so the quality of the video isn't that great. Still studying video taking techniques!

But please watch it!

Ducksters*
Here's some interesting Halloween facts. According to Ducksters:
1. Snickers are considered to be the number one favorite candy. Really? I don't like candy that sticks to my teeth, so I don't like Snickers.
2. 40% of adults sneak Halloween candy into their own candy bowl.
3. Jack-o-lanterns were originally carved from turnips and potatoes.

Ducksters is a educational website geared towards kids.
I use this website at times when I'm helping kids with their homework.
But it lacks validity, so I wouldn't rely on this 100% for writing up reports.

Seems like Rina and Kento have forgotten about their Halloween candy.
They just leave it inside a bag in the middle of the room.

Is candy not that important to kids?

I'm the one who's asking them, "What Halloween candy are you going to eat today?"

I finally finished the second portion of our Halloween day video, so it's not available on Youtube. I'm trying to get better at my video taking and editting.

You can see what preschools (Kento goes to a home-based preschool, so it has a cozy feel) and elementary schools are like in this video. Many of the preschool teachers in the US rely on music from a CD. And them sometimes, there's an official 'music time' and the children enjoy music that's led by a music teacher. Preschool teachers in Japan are so talented if you think about it.

Halloween is over and stores are selling Christmas things.

There aren't four distinct seasons where we live in the Bay Area, but I do love Christmas!
I get excited just looking at the Christmas decorations.

This Halloween was the craziest out of all Halloweens I've experienced so far, but I did take and post a video about our Halloween. If I made our day's video into one video, it'll be super long, so I'll break it into parts and upload. I did upload one video, so please check it out!

You might think the video just drags on, but please think of it as a video where you pick up on some English phrases!

Tomorrow is one of all kids' favorite holidays - Halloween!!

Kids will go around the neighborhood at night and get candy. They'll say, "Trick or treat," when getting candy. Trick means to deceive and Treat means something good.

Trick or treat is a fun phrase, but I don't think people in the US think too deeply about the meaning when they say it. Kids just ring their neighbor's doorbell and once they see someone open the door, they just automatically say, "Trick or treat."

My kids will get a lot of candy tomorrow for sure, so I'm going to start searching for locations where we can donate some candy. Of course my kids will eat some of their favorite candy, but for those that aren't really their favorite, if it's just going to sit at the house, then why not donate it. Every year, we either donate some candy or use it for our gingerbread house around Christmas time.
